Lawrence I. Stern:
As a California State Bar Certified Workers' Compensation specialist, Lawrence Irving Stern has over three decades of experience fighting for the rights of California's injured workers.
Mr. Stern has a successful track record in obtaining substantial awards and settlements in challenging and serious Workers' Compensation Claims. His practice encompasses every aspect of Workers' Compensation law and he has represented a wide range of workers including both union and non-union labor along with public and private sector employees.
Mr. Stern is also experienced in personal injury, products liability and malpractice suits which include specialization in catastrophic industrial and non-industrial accidents.
Mr. Stern graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in zoology and a minor in biochemistry. He also holds a Master of Science from the University of Southern California in molecular pharmacology. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University.
Mr. Stern is presently the Treasurer of the California Applicants' Attorneys Association and sits on the Board of Governors. He is a past president of the Southern California Applicants' Attorneys Association. His past community activities include Judge Pro Tem of the Workers Compensation Appeals Board, Judge Pro Tem of Los Angeles Municipal Court, Panel Member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association for Attorney Fee Dispute matter and Court Appointed Arbitrator in Personal Injury and Product Liability matters.
Jeffrey M. Stern:
Jeffrey Stern brings a wealth of experience to his position as a Workers' Compensation Attorney at the Law Offices of Mallery & Stern. Jeffrey has a
broad knowledge of Workers' Compensation Law and he is well-versed in all phases of case handling, from conducting initial client meetings, taking depositions to handling cross examinations and presenting and trying cases before the Workers' Compensation Board.
Mr. Stern has successfully handled cases for a wide variety of clients, including peace officers, sheriff officers, fire fighters, correctional officers, public safety officers, laborers, state, county and municipal workers, members of the entertainment industry, nurses, teachers, airline workers, and utility workers.
Mr. Stern graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in economics with a minor in anthropology and earned his J.D. from New York Law School.
Mr. Stern is an active member of the California Applicants Attorneys' Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He has presented and taught at various Applicant Attorney Conferences and educational programs.
Prior to attending law school, Jeffrey was a paralegal in the real estate and finance department of a prestigious international law firm where he specialized in debt refinancing/structuring and project finance.
In his free time Mr. Stern, enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.

Mallery & Stern was started in 1976 by Richard C. Mallery and Lawrence I. Stern. Mr. Mallery passed away in 1988 and the firm has kept his name to honor him for his contribution to the legal system and his never ending pursuit of justice for those he represented.
What is your primary product or service?
Legal: we deal with work injuries and products or machines that cause work injuries and deal with the families of injured workers. We assist with both physical and psychological injuries caused by work or stress at work or even exposure to toxins and other materials at work which can and often cause harm and result in an injury.

What type of payments do you accept?
Most cases are taken on a contingency, therefore, the client does not pay anything up front. In Workers' Compensation, the "fee" is fixed by the court and is usually 15% of the permanent disability award or of the settlement.
